Rental terms for cars and motorcycles operated by Religion Co., Ltd. (Religion Rent), Phuket, Thailand.

5.1 Driver Requirements

  • Cars:
  • • Minimum age: 20 years. Maximum age: 70 years.
  • • Valid driver's licence held for at least 1 year.
  • • Foreign drivers must present original national licence + International Driving Permit (IDP).
  • • IDP is valid in Thailand for the first 60 days of stay only (DLT regulation).
  • • Security deposit: from 15,000 THB in any currency and by any payment method convenient for you.
  • • Driver substitution during the rental period is not permitted — only the person named in the contract may operate the vehicle. If violated, the company may repossess the vehicle without refunding the deposit.
  • Motorcycles:
  • • Minimum age: 20 years.
  • • Category A licence (or international equivalent) is mandatory.
  • • Security deposit: from 15,000 THB in any currency and by any payment method convenient for you.

5.2 Insurance & Deposits

  • • CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) is included in the rental price. Covers body damage only.
  • • CDW does NOT cover: glass, tyres, suspension, roof, interior.
  • • Full coverage option (Super CDW) is available at additional cost — ask for daily rate.
  • • Por Ror Bor (compulsory state insurance) covers minor third-party bodily injury only.
  • • The deposit is refunded within 7 (seven) business days of vehicle return. This period is required for damage inspection, cleaning, detailed checks if necessary, and verification that no fines apply.
  • • In the event of a major accident, the renter is liable for Loss of Value of the vehicle beyond repair costs, plus downtime charged at the daily rental rate.

5.3 Additional Charges & Penalties

  • Cars:
  • • Mileage limit: 100 km/day. Excess: 30 THB/km.
  • • Late return: 500 THB for each hour of delay (unless agreed in advance with the lessor). After 3 hours of delay, the full daily rate applies for each additional day or part thereof.
  • • Smoking in the vehicle: 30,000 THB penalty, including professional cleaning costs (odours, stains).
  • • Pets without prior agreement: up to 10,000 THB cleaning fee.
  • • Driving through deep water makes the renter fully liable for all damage (100% of repair cost).
  • • Lost or damaged electronic key: 30,000 THB.
  • • Returning a dirty vehicle: 1,000 THB.
  • • Exceeding 120 km/h is prohibited.
  • • Attempting to disable, damage, or remove the GPS tracker: 50,000 THB penalty.
  • • Fuel policy: the vehicle is provided with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. If returned with less than a full tank, the lessor refuels the vehicle. The cost of missing fuel plus a service fee of 100 THB per missing gauge segment is deducted from the security deposit.
  • Motorcycles:
  • • Daily mileage limit: 250 km. Excess: 5 THB/km.
  • • Late return: additional charge per hour of delay (rate specified in the rental contract). Delay exceeding 6 hours = one full extra rental day.
  • • Lost or damaged helmet: charged at replacement cost.
  • • Overdue return exceeding 2 days without extension and payment will be reported to police as theft.
  • • Total loss or theft without full insurance: full market value of the motorcycle + 50,000 THB penalty.
  • • Fuel policy: the vehicle is provided with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. If returned with less than a full tank, the lessor refuels the vehicle. The cost of missing fuel plus a service fee of 100 THB per missing gauge segment is deducted from the security deposit.

5.4 Cancellation Policy

  • Pay on Arrival bookings:
  • • Cancelled more than 48 hours before rental start: no charge.
  • • Cancelled less than 48 hours before rental start: no charge.
  • • No-show: booking held for 12 hours, then cancelled automatically.
  • Prepaid bookings:
  • • Cancelled more than 48 hours before rental start: full refund minus bank transfer fee (400 THB + 7% VAT). Stripe processing fee is non-refundable.
  • • Cancelled less than 48 hours before rental start: no refund.
  • • No-show: no refund.
  • • Early return: no refund for unused days.

5.5 Prohibited Use

  • • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • • Sub-renting or lending the vehicle to a third party.
  • • Off-road or race track use.
  • • Driving through flooded roads.
  • • For motorcycles: trips beyond Phuket island (including other islands such as Koh Yao) are permitted only with written consent from Religion Co., Ltd.; if approved, a +30% surcharge applies to the rental price.
  • • For motorcycles: exceeding the 250 km/day limit without prior agreement.
